Reagan Smith - Third Time’s a Charm

Reagan Smith returned to Riverside Speedway to try to retain his title in this year’s IWK 250. “I’m excited about being back. I wasn’t 100% sure I was going to make it with things I had going on in the States but things played out and I got to come up here to play and do a little more racing this summer.”

Reagan went on to say “I’d like to win this race again. The race car is good. We’ll see what happens. As we saw last year, a lot of stuff can happen. Attrition is a very important factor in a long race. We’ll try to keep our nose clean and go from there.”

Each year track management and the NASCAR drivers make a trip to the IWK in Halifax with their cars. Reagan’s thoughts on this part of the experience were: “Great !!! Great !!! It was good to go back and see the kids. I don’t

know what they’re going through and if we can show up and give them one day where they can “hang out”, get a chance to smile and laugh, draw on the car or do whatever they want to do. It’s a great hospital. It’s a priviledge to go there and be part of it.”

Reagan was then asked if he would like to return again next year. “We’ll see. If all things play out good. I’d love to come back. Although, after this race, they may not want me back. I’d enjoy coming. Who knows, I might just come for a vacation and do some sight seeing. I could come right after Chicago and spend a week.”
