Kevin Petersen - Young at Heart

When you go to to Speedway 660 and see the number 3, 4 cylinder, it brings back memories of the “Intimidator”. “my old buddy Dale, I’m a big fan, huge fan, I wouldn’t race anything but the number 3.”

Petersen was asked how he got started in racing. “A friend of mine and I used to stay home and watch the races on TV while having a few “toddies”. Since they’ve built the track here, I haven’t missed a weekend. I decided that I could do this and started with ENDURO for a couple of years. Then, last year I started in the 4 cylinders.”

Moving up is always on a racer’s mind, but not Petersen’s. “Not planning to move up. I like the 4cylinders. It’s a lot of fun out there with the younger crowd and it’s really affordable.”

Sponsors have always been an issue in racing but Petersen seems to be making out OK. “Not really, people like to give a little bit to help guys get started.”

When Petersen was asked about accidents, Petersen replied quickly “ Got a little rough last weekend, here with the four cylinders. They’re a younger crowd, only kids. You can’t be roughing them up.”

With quite a chuckle, Petersen quickly responded to the “funniest moment” question. Laughing, he answered. “ Smokin’ Joe Albert with no shirt on.’

For a final comment, Petersen said “I’d like to thank my wife. Me and my wife work on the car together. She’s my best friend. She’s always out in the garage with me.”
