OFF SEASON NEWS:
Mooresville, NC 3/11/10- With the inaugural Crooks Racing Short Track Racing Seminar just weeks away, all indications point to a very successful event in its first year. Preparations are now in full swing as the seminar taking place at Moncton, New Brunswick’s Coastal Inn on March 20th-21st is filling up quickly with pre-registered attendees, only leaving seventeen seats remaining for those who have not registered. “So far I have been really pleased with the response we’ve gotten from people who are excited to learn the new technology that has translated to success for myself and my clients over the years,” stated Crooks. “We still have a few seats left but we’re hoping we can get those seats sold for those who plan on signing up on the day of the event.” The instructional seminar will focus on in depth racecar setup for the short track racer. Roll centers, front end geometry, bump stop setups, and track tuning in addition to much more will all be covered. The seminar will be a first of its kind and will not only feature instructional information but each pre-registered attendee will receive a DVD copy of the entire two day seminar so they can easily refer to the knowledge they will be presented throughout the racing season. In addition, each and every attendee will be automatically registered for several seminar giveaways courtesy of the various vendors taking part in the activities. ARP Bodies, RE Suspension, Advance Racewear, R&D Performance, Tex Motorsports Marketing, and Brunhoelzl Pit Equipment are just a few of the confirmed supporters of the inaugural event. Registration for the 2010 seminar can be completed via the Crooks Racing website at www.crooksracinginc.com. Attendees can still pre-register completely on the Crooks racing website by clicking the PayPal button. The cost of the seminar for one team member is $549.95 or you can save by registering two individuals for $995.95. The racing community is mourning the loss of Tim Boulton. Boulton, 59 of Cole Harbour, passed March 5, 2010 and was very involved in stock car racing in recent years. "Gammon-Parks Racing became Boulton Racing in 2009, as our gift to Tim for infusing so much effort (and dollars) into a large team, so that 10 guys were able to hit the asphalt and enjoy racing during the summer of 09. He enjoyed being part of that community and was present up to the last event of the season." said Ross Parks. We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Boulton. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.Tuesday, March 9 in Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel.
UPDATE: Bea has come through the surgery in fine shape. From all appearances, the operation was a total success. She should be back home in a couple of days. Thanks for all the emails and good wishes.
NOTICE TO ALL RACING SPECTATOR FANS: For the next few days, things will be rather quiet here at the Spectator as we make the journey to Moncton where Bea will undergo Bi-Pass surgery to get rid of a troublesome blockage in one of her arteries. I will try to keep you updated on here or on facebook as quickly as possible afterwards. The operation is scheduled to take place on Friday at 1pm. With all the miracles of modern medicine, she will only be in hospital a couple of days.

Ryan MacIntosh to race in Allison Legacy Series: The 2010 race season will see Chris Woods Racing driver Ryan Mackintosh take on a new chapter in his Southern adventure. Mackintosh will compete in a limited schedule in the Allison Legacy South Series. "The experience will be great for Ryan's development" stated team co-owner and crewchief Chris "Woody" Woods. The series visits tracks throughout the southern half of the Mid-Atlantic States and combines selected road courses with some of the best short track ovals in country.
Progress Update on Ryan MacIntosh: Five oval and three roadcourse events are in the books at the 2010 INEX Winter Heat series at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Coming off of a tough crash in practice, Ryan Mackintosh was able to qualify his car in third and hold the car there for the 20 lap feature at Charlotte. Mackintosh moved up from third in points to finish second behind John Holliman of North Carolina. Mackintosh will now have two weeks off before beginning the points season in United States in Concord. The winter season has given the driver of the #03 Bandolero an opportunity to gain more experience on the tracks in the Southern U.S. where he will compete for the national championship State side. Mackintosh grabbed a third place in the U.S. Winter Nationals in Florida last week and has followed it up with a second place in the very competitive INEX Winter Heat Series that has wrapped up after 8 weeks in Charlotte.
Southwest Stock Car Association will be having our annual general meeting on Feb. 28th at 1:00 PM. This will be held at the Salmon River fire hall. The meeting will outline the 2010 racing schedule and improvement strategy. We welcome back past members and encourage new members and volunteers to join our association. There will be a $25.00 membership fee collected at the door which will entitle the members to participate in discussions to further develop Lake Doucette Motor Speedway into a self sustaining racetrack. I want to remind all that Southwest Stock Car Association is a non-profit organization that works completely on a volunteer basis and needs the support of the local community and racers. All monies raised go directly back into track improvement and development. Working on the heels of last years successful single event, 2010 promises to bring ever better racing. A new racing division (Maritime Sportsman Tour), has been formed and LDMS has been fortunate enough to secure 2 race dates for the tour!

The MacIntosh team is part of BAM RACING. Ryan has been working very hard and is keeping his school work up as well. For those who don’t know, Ryan is a youngster from Amherst, NS who has been racing Bandaleros at Scotia Speedworld the past two years. From PEI comes word that Doug MacEwan will be making another run at the Street Stock championship at Centre for Speed. Doug is a former champion at Oyster Bed Bridge and would like to grab the title in New Brunswick to become a two province champion. To my recollection, nobody has ever won titles in two provinces, and Doug would like to be the first. Several drivers, most recently, Rick Cashol, have held titles at two tracks, as he did in 2008, but nobody has held titles in two provinces. Will Doug MacEwan be the first ???

From Blue Mountain Speedway: Last year was an awful season for weather and beavers! lol First time our insurance agent had to give someone a credit for a cancelled event caused by beavers!! We only ran 4 events including Monster Truck show that was held in the rain! We're hoping this year is a better year for us! We ran a 4x4 event last year in the infield where we built a course, we were encouraged by the interest showed in this event, so we plan to try to expand on it this year somewhat (another event held in the rain ).
