2nd Place Finish Road Wars Round #2
Rockingham, NC
Amherst, Nova Scotia's Ryan Mackintosh drove his Scotia Hyundai Bandolero to a 2nd place finish at Rockingham Speedway. The race was the second event of the "Rocks" Road Wars Series on the track's road course.
The #03 qualified 3rd in the heat and ran the car upfront all race. Mackintosh was able to get a few looks at the lead but in each case the eventual race winner was able to block the move.
Mackintosh's finish, unofficially, puts him in first place after two events. Sunday's 2nd place finish followed up a 5th place from the previous week.
PEI's Brodie MacQuarrie crossed the line in 4th place but was awarded 3rd and a podium finish after some post race incidents and some DQs. Unfortunately, for the second straight week altercations broke out in the garage area after the race. Sources have indicated that race director and promotor Ollie Spain will be handing out further penalties by mid week.
Next week will see driver Ryan Mackintosh do double duty at Rockingham with round #3 of Road Wars and with the entry of the #03 Scotia Hyundai Allison Legacy Car into the A.L.S. Southern Touring Series also being held on the Rockingham Road Course.

Lonnie Sommerville captures fourth place in World Crown 300 and then moves up to third when the second place finisher was DQ’ed in tech. Good run Lonnie !!!

During the race, Mackintosh was able to work his way through traffic and at the midway point of the race had found himself in 6th positon on a the first restart of the race.
PEI's late model driver Brodie MacQuarrie was the spotter for the Chris Wood's Racing team and was able to work with Mackintosh and bring him home to a 9th place finish.
"This was a great race for Ryan's first time in the car ever", commented team co-owner Christi Woods. "We wanted to get some seat time, finish on the lead lap and Ryan did much more than that."
The Allison Legacy South Touring Series competes at tracks throughout the South Eastern United States.

UPDATE on Atlantic Stock Car Championships weekend at CFS - Now 160 drivers
As of Friday afternoon (3:30 p.m), all scheduled racing events on Saturday and Sunday as part of the Atlantic Stock Car Championships at the Centre for Speed (CFS) in Grand Barachois, N.B. are a GO!.
The current weather forecast indicates that if it does rain or sprinkle in the Shediac / Grand Barachois area, it should not last past 10 a.m. on Saturday morning  Therefore, the worst case scenario is that Saturday's drivers practices would start at 10a.m. and by noon or early afternoon, thanks to the warmer than normal weather, CFS will be running the planned event on Saturday!
Please note that tonight's (Friday) drivers practice may be rained out.  At present, it is difficult to accurately pinpoint the weather as the forecast is calling for "isolated showers" which could mean we get some rain at CFS or none at all. Right now, the practice session is a GO, but it might have to be cancelled and details to that effect will be available from the CFS info line at (506) 532-3032.
