The green flag dropped on the 2008 Season at Miramichi City Speedway Saturday evening with the R. Tozer Construction Ltd. Demolition Event.  The 2007 Champions in both the 4 Cylinder and Dukes Divisions backed up their titles by winning Grand Slams on the night.  Jean-Guy Chiasson in his #35 Honda Civic led the way to checkered flag all night in the 4 Cylinder Class, and the rear bumper of #15 Joel Clancy's Chevy was a familiar sight to his Dukes competitors.  It will be interesting to see if the other drivers can get up on the wheel to challenge these two talented drivers throughout the summer.
Like expected, action in the Demolition Division was fast and furious. Veteran Demo Driver, Eddie Hay, in the #11 car dominated the preliminary Demo events, winning the Figure 8, Back-up and Heat Races, and finishing second in the Demolition Derby.  There was a scary incident in turn 2 before the start of the Bag Race with the #02 car overturning on its roof after making contact with the outside retaining wall. The Demolition Derby was won by #87 Kevin Tucker who also won the Bag Race. 3rd Place in the Derby went to #24 Tom Fitzgerald of PEI, setting up an exciting points battle in this division.
