Scott MacLean
“MacLean Motorsports Is His Game

Scott MacLean, from Scotsburn, NS, is into the building of Legends cars.  “We build custom Legends cars. We can supply anyone with parts or set-up information. We build custom chassis’ and clips. We can also build from the ground up, if that’s what the customer wants. We make our own pieces, then we know what we have.”

MacLean went on to say “I have a customer that runs in Ottawa. He’s coming down this year to run the IWK 250 Legends event. Chad Wilson is very competitive up there. I was up this Spring and did some work for him. He sends his cars down here for me to fix.”

Maclean has plans for the future as well. “We’re going to do a racing school. We’ve started test drives and rentals of any of our cars. We have three cars available. They are very competitive cars and any one of them is capable of winning. If you can drive, you can win in any of my cars.”

Continuing on, Scott said “We have about sixteen cars out there that we’ve done chassis’ for. Four of them are in the top ten here at Scotia. Our chassis and set-up finished 0ne-Two last week with the 61 and Blenkhorn’s 13.”

You may wonder how MacLean became the man behind this endeavour. MacLean has been racing for eighteen years. He started in go-karts and then Legends. “I got hurt earlier so Bruce Johnson is driving my car. (the 61 Legends). Now I’m concentrating on building.

I asked MacLean about the number 61. “Richard Evans, I always thought he was a great driver. That was his number and that’s why I took it.”

Since he has been around racing for such a long time, he was asked about the worst accident he’s ever seen. “Dale’s car (Dale Richardson in 2008) was the worst. People don’t realize how important good safety gear is. People don’t want to buy good firesuits and safety gear but if you can’t afford good safety gear, then you can’t afford to be racing. It’s cheap when you compare the whole package and the possible consequences.”

MacLean certainly knows what he’s talking about when you look at his list of accomplishments. Two time Canadian Legend Pro champion, two time Scotia Speedworld Legends champion, and five time Legends Tour champion

Maclean has plans for the future if he heals properly. “ If I heal, I would like to move up to Pro Stock.” Good luck and heal fast Scott.
