He went on to say, “ I decided to try driving instead of working on them. It’s the new Truck division at Scotia. I only drove Frankie Jr.’s Sportsman twice, a couple of years ago. I have no other driving experience.”
Lindsey was asked if he had tested the truck yet. “ We tested on Friday. It was decent but had a few problems, same as with anything new. We’ll get it worked out. We’ll work on it til we start winning.”
The Truck division was supposed to be a replacement for the defunct Hobby stock class, so I asked him what the differences were. “Power. We’re running the same street tires as the Hobby class was so really, POWER will be the only difference.
“The “08” number is out of the Fraser camp. It’s been there for a long time. Both Scotty and Frankie ran it, so I thought I’d keep it going.”
Funny things do happen around race tracks. This question usually stumps most drivers, but not Lindsey. “Actually, I was part of one of the funniest things. I ran around the pit in Sydney one night with nothing but a Hoosier tire on, trying to get the rain to stop. About ten minutes later, the rain actually stopped.”
When asked about the worst accident he has ever seen, Lindsey replied without the slightest hesitation. “ The fire in Antigonish (Dale Richardson’s car a couple years ago.)”
Lindsey was asked if there was anything he would like to add. “I’d like to thank the Frasers’ for helping me and for putting up with the mess I made in their shop.”
With that Lindsey went back to tuning the truck.
