Kehoe

Jerome Kehoe - Cape Breton’s Hero

For the best part of twenty years, Jerome Kehoe has been on the racing ovals of the Maritimes. “I got my start in just an old street stock down in Sydney. Tommy Hayes and I. I won three or four street stock championships before moving up to the Sportsman class.”

As for Sportsman championships, Kehoe was asked how he was doing. “I Never really ran a full season except last year. This year I’m second in points in the Super Series.”

Kehoe’s 98 sportsman car was the number that the number that my brother raced at the old track in Sydney.

As for accidents, Kehoe has seen and been in his share. “Last year here at Riverside, Mike Power Jr landed upside down on top of me, and then there was the fire. That was a couple of exciting moments going on there.”

Kehoe has also seen a funny side of racing although it was also scary. “One time we saw an old car on the track with ABS pipes instead of the steel roll cage. That was both funny and scary.”

The big question of the day was - Is the car prepared for this race. “With thanks to the boys and Tommy (part owner of the car) we have a pretty good car. The boys have worked really hard on it. If I can get into the top three, we’ll have a pretty good chance.”
