A new class of racing has hit the Maritime ovals in the past few years, the Bandaleros. I had the opportunity to talk to one of the drivers at Speedway 660.
I asked young Dana Hamm how he got involved in racing. “My Dad,(former AOW driver Troy Hamm), bought me a go-kart when I was five years old. I won three championships with it, then came in second twice and a third.”
“ I think I’m third in points right now, and that’s pretty good because the first couple of races, I got into wrecks. i came back from that and up in the points.”
Being a young driver, I didn’t consider that there would be many bad accidents. “I bent my axle really bad. I got into qan accident with Nathan (number 20).”
Following that Dana was asked if there was anything funny that he’s seen so far. “When Dawson’s tire came off. I thought that was funny.”
With that they called for Bandalero practice and like a pro, Dana prepared himself to go on the track.
