Manchester Enterprises, gives me the truck to haul the car. The Cat Rental store gives me the fuel for it so that’s pretty good.”
Someone who had been around racing as long as Cashol must of had his fair share of accidents. “I crashed my first year at Geary with my Sportsman and I think I may have had a little concussion.”
Having conquered many championships thus far in his career, the conversation turned to moving into a faster and more powerful class. “I’ve been looking at a Sportsman but my wife and crew chief won’t let me buy it so I guess I’ll stay where I’m at. When you have a good car like this one, you’re happy where you are.”
“You know” Cashol stated “My Dad raced and that’s how I got into this. He owned the old Frankie Moore car. Moore got nominated into the Hall of Fame this year and will be inducted in the Fall. He was my mentor and I married his niece. This is quite an honour for his family.”
With the Atlantic Championships coming soon, I asked him if he had entered. “we don’t normally race in Shediac but I’ll be there for that. I love that track. Geary is my home track and I’m comfortable there but Shediac is special.”
Cashol concluded with “My daughter nominated me for Racing Spectator “Driver of the Year”. it was quite exciting to see all the votes. Although I came in second, I want to congratulate Fred Broussard for winning. It was fun.”
