Brent Wiggins - The “Alpine” Man

Brent Wiggins, from Frederiction, NB, pilots the #17 Alpine Pro Stock around the oval at Speedway 660. The mountain may be blue, but the the car is hot.

Befor becoming a race car driver, Wiggins was into motocross,"I hurt my back while in motocross. I tried to go back racing with my boys, who are in motocross, but I couldn't.  I wanted to do something, and this was the next best thing..That was six years ago".

Wiggins has had one very serious accident "I was in the hospital for a week, I dislocated my hip and all my insides moved,so I'd call that the big one."

The way things are these days,  many drivers are having problems with sponsors but this has not been the case for Wiggins. "Knock on wood, we've been really fortunate as far as that goes. Also, and with our pit crew as well, some of the guys have been with me the past four years. We don't want a real big crew, just guys that know what to do and it works.”

In closing, Wiggins was asked what change he would like to see in racing "Rules, a little more discression towards the guy that was just taken out. As it stands now, everyone involved in an incident that causes a caution are sent to the back. Sometimes I think the one that pretty much causes the caution should be sent back alone. After this happens a few times and if the others taken out or involved keep their positions, the silliness will stop.”

With that Wiggins went on to prepare for the days event.
