Kenny Babineau
 Competitor in a Different Sport

Anyone who frequents Centre for Speed has heard of Kenny Babineau. Besides his work at the Centre, driving in the pace car etc., with his Dad, he has a bigger passion. Babineau has been into the National Special Olympics for several years.

Babineau competes in track and field, but his real talent is in softball. “ I qualified for the Nationals and have done pretty good. I won a lot of competitions. I just got back from my third National in a row and did very well in softball.”

Babineau went on to say “This year in the Provincials, we won the softball championship, a medal for shot putting, four more in running, and a gold medal in running is included, but they ran out of the medals.”

“Subway and Toyota of Moncton are our big sponsors. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to compete.”

When asked what his future plans were, Babineau quickly replied “ I Qualified for the Nationals next year in London, Ontario. This is the third time we qualified for ball in the Nationals.”

Ozzie Babineau, Kenny’s father, proudly supports his son in his athletic endeavours. “The team does really well. They represent our Province with a lot of pride.”
