Marcos Ambrose - “For the Love of Racing”

Marcos Ambrose,  of Launcestor, Tasmania,  now making his home in Canappolis, North Carolina, started his racing career like so many others, in go-karts. After winning four go-kart championships, he won the British Formula Series. He also raced the V8 Supercar Series, winning 27 races in Australian road race series, and now a Sprint Cup driver.

“I like racing NASCAR. Short track racing is different from Indie, but it is all fun to me, it doesn’t matter what.”

Ambrose was asked what he thought of Nova Scotia. “ Nova Scotia is so pretty. I’ve never seen so much greenery. This facility is great. The family I’m with is great, and I’m having a lot of fun.”

The IWK 250 each year send their guest driver and some of the local drivers to the IWK to entertain the children for a day. Marcos was asked about this experience.

“ The IWK was great. We do a lot of charity work in NASCAR. We give back as much as we can. It’s never easy to see kids going through tough times. I think it’s a great thing to race for. The Chisholm’s have had some dealings with it and it is close to their hearts.”

At this point Ambrose had to suit up and get ready for the “Meet and Greet” out on the track.
