Frank Hurlburt Dominated the sportsman racing day winning the dash for cash the 1/2 way leader prize and 118 of 150 laps. Ron Lane managed to lead one lap and Lake Doucette's own Colby Smith saved his brakes until the end of the race to prove that strategy can win long races leading 31 laps to the checkered flag and the top prize of $1000.00 !!!

A letter from James “Cooter” Smith on the race event at Lake Doucette Motor Speedway
I just wanted to send an e-mail to you about my trip to Lake Doucette. I went down Friday morning with Bob and Ron Lane from B&R Racing. When we got there the reception we got from the locals made us feel real welcome and the track configuration was incredible. After practicing we knew we had a good car for Saturday. Come Saturday at race time the organization and friendliness of the track officials was incredible. Before the 150 we looked over the car to make sure the car was good to go and discovered the front two rotors were cracked. Leonard Boutillier’s crew pitched in and helped us make the line up. In th 150 Ron made it up to 2nd, right behind Frank Hurlburt, and for a good portion of the race tried to work Frank high and low but with wore out tires couldn't make it stick. Colby Smith then made a good run by Ron on the bottom and he was able to get under Frank for first. When Frank spun , that gave second back to Ron and he was able to get under Colby in 3 but exiting 4 backed out of the throttle so he wouldn't wreck Colby. All in all Ron gained a lot of knowledge for that track, respect of the other drivers, and most of all had a great time. If this race is held next year , I think you can count on B&R racing going to Lake Doucette.A big thank you goes out to the officials, fans and people of Lake Doucette and surrounding communites, Cape View motel for the excellent accomidations and anyone else that made this trip a very good experience.

Schedule Unchanged
Oct 9, 2009 - After a review of the current weather forecast from Environment Canada issued earlier this morning the CENTRE is moving forward with the event schedule as currently planned. The forecast is now calling for showers to end sometime on Saturday morning vs yesterdays forecast of rain throught the day. We are hoping that the trend will continue to improve for Saturday and we therefore expect to complete the schedule as originaly planned. Monday continues to be the rain date, if necessary.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM CENTRE FOR SPEED
Due to a worsening change in the forecast for Saturday the speedway will be making a decision tomorrow morning (Friday) as to the weekends schedule of events. Anyone wishing to avoid additional expenses are urged to wait until tomorrow before beginning their travel. If conditions remain the same there will be a need to change the current schedule and rearrange the classes and events to Sunday and Monday (sunny and warm). We hope that the forecast will change for the better however and so we would like to wait until tomorrow morning to make a final decision.
We are very sorry to have to suggest this scenario at this time however it is the best interest of all the travelling fans and teams and could help reduce your costs on the weekend if rain does indeed spoil our day on Saturday.
Thank you for your understanding and please check our site
tomorrow after 10 am before beginning your travel if you wish to avoid extra accommodation charges. The Racing Spectator will also carry this announcement as soon as it becomes available

Well, that was fun !!! At 4:45 pm last Thursday, as many of you already know, I finally had the heart attack that has been coming on since Speedweekend in Geary. However, I survived, and plan to be around for a while yet. I arrived home at 3:30 today (Tuesday), a little worse for wear, but still in one piece. It looks as if I might be buying a piece of a drugstore soon, with the list of medicine I will be taking for a while.
The good news is that I am still able to be at the Atlantic Championships this weekend, although I will have to be a bit quieter than normal. I will also be
presenting the “DOTY” trophy to Shawn Waterfield on Sunday as originally scheduled.
To the many people who sent “get Well” wishes and also those who sent “Birthday wishes”, I send a
sincere “thank you”. It was muchly appreciated. Anyways, the worst is over now and there are still two weeks of racing to go, so “Pedal to the metal and don’t forget to turn left” See you all in Shediac.
